    Middle Grade

When young street magician Carter runs away from his con-artist uncle, he lands in the sleepy town of Mineral Wells and discovers a magic shop run by the mysterious Dante Vernon. There, Carter joins five other kids who share his passion for magic tricks, and together this diverse group of 'Magic Misfits' must use their unique talents and teamwork to stop a greedy carnival boss, B.B. Bosso, from swindling the townsfolk. The core group of young magicians includes ethnically diverse characters, a girl who uses a wheelchair, and a girl being raised by two dads, offering meaningful representation of disability and LGBTQ+ family structures. Themes of found family, self-worth, friendship, and discovering one's own 'magic' run throughout this fun, interactive adventure that even teaches readers real magic tricks along the way.
