The Magic School Bus Inside the Earth

The Magic School Bus Inside the Earth

    by Joanna Cole

    Ages 4-91987
    Picture Book

Ms. Frizzle takes her class on an incredible field trip aboard the magic school bus, shrinking down and tunneling through the Earth's crust, mantle, and core before erupting out of a volcano. Along the way, the diverse, multiethnic group of students learns about sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks, plate tectonics, and how the Earth's layers are formed. The story playfully reminds kids of the importance of completing homework assignments, wrapping science education in humor and adventure. As one of the original Magic School Bus titles, it introduced the character Phoebe and set the tone for the series' blend of comedy, curiosity, and hands-on learning.
